Mildura Endoscopy Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy Mildura VIC Dr Tom Gleeson Dr Margaret Dunkley

What should I bring to my Consultation at Mildura Endoscopy?

Please bring the following to your initial Consultation (or send to us prior):

  • A Valid Referral from your GP or Specialsit

  • Any previous diagnostics or documentation related to your condition (blood tests, imaging)

  • An up-to-date/accurate list of your current medications

During the Consultation

The doctor will review your medical history, current symptoms, and any previous investigations. They'll discuss why the procedure has been recommended and explain what it involves. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions about the procedure, risks, benefits, and what to expect.

The doctor will perform a brief physical examination if needed and review any medications you're taking, as some may need to be adjusted before the procedure. They'll also discuss your preferences for sedation and address any concerns about the procedure itself.

If you need to have a procedure or a planned surgery, we will discuss the specific details and explain any risks beforehand. This includes if there is anything you need to do to prepare.

Planning Your Procedure

If you decide to proceed with the procedure, the team will schedule your gastroscopy or colonoscopy and provide detailed preparation instructions. For colonoscopy, this includes specific dietary restrictions and bowel preparation medications. For gastroscopy, you'll typically need to fast for a certain period beforehand.

You'll receive written information about the procedure, preparation requirements, and what to expect on the day. The staff will also arrange any necessary pre-procedure tests and ensure you have someone to drive you home afterward if you're having sedation.
