The day before your procedure you will need to be on a strict clear fluid diet. This will replace the white diet in the bowel prep instructions.
Clear fluids are liquids that you can see through, like water, clear juices, broths, and some beverages like ginger ale or lemonade. They are typically easy to digest and are often used in clear liquid diets, especially before or after certain medical procedures.
Examples of Clear Fluid:
Water: Plain, carbonated, or flavoured.
Clear Juices: Strained fruit juices without pulp (e.g., apple juice, white grape juice, cranberry juice).
Broth: Clear, non-fat broths (bouillon or consommé).
Clear Sodas: Ginger ale, Sprite, 7-Up, etc.
Clear Drinks: Lemonade, fruit punch.
Gelatin: Plain gelatin (without fruit).
Popsicles: Popsicles without fruit bits, fruit pulp, or yogurt.
Tea and Coffee: Plain tea or coffee (without milk or non-dairy creamer).
Sports Drinks: Gatorade, Pedialyte.
Nutritional Drinks: Enlive, Ensure Clear
What's NOT a Clear Fluid:
Cloudy Juices: Orange juice, tomato juice, etc.
Milk and Milk Products: Milk, yogurt, cream.
Soups with Solids: Vegetable soup, meat soup, etc.
Foods with Pulp or Solids: Juices with pulp, drinks with pulp, etc.
Alcoholic Beverages: Beer, mixed drinks, etc.
Liqueurs: These are generally not considered clear liquids due to their density and opacity.
